System requirements

Operating system
Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64).
Video encoding
NVIDIA NVENC, Intel Quick Sync and AMD AMF are supported. When a suitable hardware encoder is unavailable, the app uses software encoding on the CPU.
Disk space
You need free space for the app and local recordings. The amount depends on video quality, buffer duration and the number of saved files.
Internet and account
An internet connection is needed to sign in, update the app and publish content. Videos and screenshots are saved to your computer first.
Audio from a specific app
Capturing audio from a selected application requires Windows 10 version 2004 or later. System audio and microphone recording are also available.

How the replay buffer works
Linux · Before installation

System requirements

Operating system
Ubuntu 24.04 or Linux Mint 22 on a 64-bit Intel/AMD processor (x64). The app has been tested on Mint 22.3 with an X11 desktop session.
Recording dependencies
System-installed OBS Studio version 30–32 and FFmpeg. The .deb installer installs the required dependencies through the package manager. .NET is bundled with the app. The Flatpak edition of OBS does not replace the system package.
Desktop session and hotkeys
We recommend an X11 session for your first launch. Wayland has not yet been tested; there you need to configure save and pause shortcuts in your desktop settings.
Disk space and account
You need free space for the app and recordings. Internet access is required to install dependencies, sign in, update and publish content.

Good to know

App questions

Do I need to buy a plan to record?

No. Local recording, editing, MP4 export and screenshots are free. Screenshots published on the free plan are kept for 7 days. Cloud video uploads require a trial or paid plan.

How do I choose the right quality for my computer?

Performance depends on the game, resolution, frame rate and encoder. The app has a mode for less powerful PCs that records at 720p / 30 FPS. Check how smoothly the game and finished video run, then adjust your settings.

How do I update ReplayBox?

The Windows and Linux apps check for updates automatically. This page provides the current installers for both platforms. Updates preserve your settings and completed recordings.

Why does the app keep running after I close the window?

Closing the main window minimizes ReplayBox to the system tray. To exit completely, choose Exit from the app icon's menu near the clock.

Which version should I choose for Linux?

For Ubuntu 24.04 and Linux Mint 22 on Intel/AMD processors, download the .deb installer. It adds the app to the menu and installs system dependencies. ARM64 and other distributions have not yet been tested.
